APRIL 2012 NEWSLETTER
The Central Maine Trail Blazers met April 24, 2012 with a full house, I forgot to count how many members were there, somewhere between 35 & 45 ! Our club president was unable to attend so our vice president, Dave Weymouth presided over the meeting. Dave opened the meeting & read a letter of resignation from our club president, Bob Jodoin. He stated medical reasons & his present financial situation is keeping him from actively participating & it is best that at this time he resigns. Our Vice president has stepped in as acting president. Secretary report read & accepted, treasure report read & accepted.
Vice President had no news to report except that he rode the rail bed Saturday & it was quite dusty. There was a large tree down blocking the trail & it was hauled out of the way & he said the trail seemed to be in very good shape. Our trail master was unable to attend the meeting.
Old Business: The switching of names on the club checking account hasn’t happened yet, hopefully it will be done sometime this week.
New Business: Judi, Paul, Lenny & Sue attended the ATV Maine banquet this past weekend. This year it was basically about awarding those that have done outstanding jobs for their clubs. Also the high mileage club contest was completed for the past year. There wasn’t a lot of participation, only 8 clubs joined, only 48 atv’s participated & out of those only 35 sent in their final mileage. Of the four category's , names were picked from each one & two of our members won. They won a pair of goggles & a $25.00 gift card. Everyone else that participated received a certificate & a patch to be sewn on their jacket,. Those items were handed out at tonight's meeting.
We will be participating in this contest again this year. It costs the participant $10.00 to sign up, your mileage will be recorded after May 15th & at the end of the riding season your mileage will be recorded again & it will be sent in.
The ATV Maine charity calendar raffle was discussed & at the end of the meeting members purchased them.
A member, Doug Poor, also the president of the Corinth club attended our meeting tonight & spoke about a ride their club is doing this Sunday if anyone is interested in joining them. They will be riding the Down East Sunrise Trail & plan to meet at the Dunkin Donuts in Ellsworth. They are planning on eating lunch in Machias at one of the restaurants there. He also spoke about doing the Millinocket trip. Their club will probably be scheduling a ride from Corinth up through Brownville & on to Millinocket. They would be staying overnight in Millinocket. Our Millinocket ride is scheduled for July 21st & we will probably leave from Brownville & it would just be a day trip for us. We still need to find out more information. He also stated that there is a park & ride across from the Mobil on Rt 15 in Corinth & also you can park at the Countryside restaurant.
Also it has been brought to my attention that there is a ride on the schedule that doesn’t make sense, it is the one that is for May 21st, please cross this out, that date is not a Sat & for some reason even with all our proof reading that was overlooked so just cross it off.
Our safety course is May 5th. This is for area kids that will be riding an atv while accompanied by an adult on a separate atv. This is a mandatory course & is for kids age 10 to 16. If you have a child that should take this please call & register them. It is a free course with lunch, snacks & drinks provided. To register call Sue 278-4157 or Judi 278-3537.
Our rides scheduled for May: on the 19th, ride to Dover eat at one of the restaurants. Hopefully our loop trail will be open. Our other ride for May is at the end of the month, the 26th. We will do the Greenville ride.
FYI, on Facebook tonight I noticed the Moose Alley club posted that part of their trail system will open up this Thursday, the East side of the Kennebec River which I guess you would need to know their trails to know where they are referring to.
The club voted to have the landowner appreciation pot luck supper in October this year.
Your membership money is due for 2012 if you haven’t already paid. Please mail your checks to:

The Central Maine Trail Blazers met Tuesday Oct. 25, 2011 with 42 members for the last meeting of 2011. We enjoyed a huge pot luck supper before the meeting started.
Secretaries report read & accepted. Treasurer report read & accepted. Vice President had no news to report. Our trail master Dan reported that we had a great crew ( 14 members ) that showed up last Tuesday the 18th and worked all morning doing brush work on the rail bed from Mills St. in Corinna all the way to County Woods Rd. in Newport and there was quite a bit of trash cleaned up by Varney Ford. This will go in toward the grant money.
New Business was a letter from camp Capella. The letter was basically requesting an invitation to one of our meetings so they could request our club sponsor a child for camp from our area. The cost to us would be $1500.00. It was suggested that we can't afford this & the club voted not to have a speaker from Camp Capella to a meeting.
We spoke about the Big Indian Clubs event in November. This year they are going back to the fair grounds in Skowhegan for the start of the holiday parade. This is a Food & Toy Drive with a huge parade. They will start getting together about 9:30 on Nov. 20th . You can decorate your atv once you're there or have it decorated when you arrive. Porta-potties will be available,. They are serving hot dogs & coffee & hot chocolate. The parade will start at 1:30 & go through several streets & to a nursing home to drop off goodies & then back to the fair grounds to disperse the toys & food. I will send out more info as this gets closer to the date. We have joined in with them every year. There will be floats pulled by pick-ups, boy & girl scout groups, ATV Safety crew & trailer, probably Santa and who knows what else !!!. No candy can be thrown, only hand delivered.
The club voted once again to donate $300.00 again this year for a family in need. The club also voted to donate $200.00 to the town towards the Santa/Toy give away.
The High milage club "event" was discussed. We aren't sure when the ending mileage will need to be sent in but we will find out & email everyone with details. Seems Dave will need to go to each persons home in order to register their milage, we'll see.
John has asked if you plan on buying club gear for a Christmas gift to please get your order in early. His # is 278-3174.
Next meeting February 28th 2012 and will begin wioth a pot luck supper at 6:00 & the meeting at 7:00.
